Introduction
1. Vipāka viññāṇa arise due to kamma vipāka. In the previous post ("Buddhist Worldview - Introduction"), we introduced the concept that our sensory experiences occur due to six internal rūpā and six external rūpā.
- Those six types of internal types of rūpā are "internal āyatana." In mundane terms, those are our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. But they do not operate as "indriya." See "How Do Sense Faculties Become Internal Āyatana?"
- With those, we experience sights, sounds, smells, tastes, body touches, and dhammā (memories, concepts, and hopes). Those rūpās are external to us. Furthermore, what comes to our minds are "distorted versions of them" or "external āyatana." See #12 of "How Do Sense Faculties Become Internal Āyatana?"
